Weekly challenge and an update to meta progress

Hail wanderer,

A new week, a new wacky challenge in our Discord! This week we keep things wicked with the Poison Blade Showdown! With poison everywhere, how long can you survive? For the full rules of the challenge visit our discord Weekly Challenge channel and compete with some of our most adapt cardslingers!

Meta progress update
Early October we will be updating the way you upgrade your characters. Currently, each run or completed bounty earns you Experience, and this experience unlocks new cards, portraits, weapons and other upgrades for that class. We feel this system has ran its course, and with the introduction of Fateshards earlier this year we now have a more flexible way of progressing up the ranks.

The goal of the new system is to give you more control over what and when to unlock new cards and bonusses. Each run will end with a score, and the score will translate into a certain number of Fateshards earned. The Daily run will then double the amount of Fateshards if it was the first run on the day. Bounties will no longer give bonus experience, but will reward a certain number of Fateshards upon completion instead.

These Fateshards can then be used to unlock new cards, new weapons, new portraits and more for any class you want. We also want to make it easier to unlock something you want to unlock specifically, by adding more choices and picking your own route through these upgrades rather than a linear path.

To transition from the old Experience based system to the new system, we will be converting all earned experience to Fateshards on the first login. This means any progress you make up to the next patch will still be meaningful progress. If you had maxed out all classes before this update, you should be able to get to about that point in the new system, minus the new weapons, portraits and starting cards we will be adding during the next update.

Because of the extensive scope of this patch, we can’t update/bugfix the game until this patch early October – so if you reported a bug, don’t worry – we will get to it but it will likely be packed with the major update of the Progress Reward patch.

That’s all for now, have a great week and hope to see you in the Weekly Challenge!
